Watermark PDF

How the Watermark PDF works
- Your PDF is read into the browser and parsed by pdf-lib, a client-side PDF manipulation library.
- The watermark text is drawn onto every page as a real text layer, using the font size, opacity, colour and rotation you chose.
- Choose Centered for one mark in the middle of each page, or Tiled to repeat it across the whole page.
- The result is a standard .pdf file with the watermark stamped on every page, ready to download and share.
Useful tips
- Keep opacity around 15–25% so the watermark reads clearly without obscuring the page.
- Use a short word or phrase — long text gets cramped, especially when tiled.
- Remove passwords from encrypted PDFs first — protected files can't be read.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF sent to a server?+
No. The entire watermarking runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF is never uploaded to any server, so it is safe to watermark sensitive documents like contracts or invoices.
What can I customise?+
The watermark text, font size, opacity, colour, rotation (diagonal or horizontal) and layout. Choose Centered for one mark in the middle of each page, or Tiled to repeat it across the whole page.
Does it reduce the quality of the original content?+
No. The watermark is drawn on top of the existing pages as a text layer — text, images, vectors and links all carry over without re-rendering or recompression. Only the watermark is added.
Can I watermark a password-protected PDF?+
No. Encrypted PDFs can't be read without the password. Remove the password first, then watermark the unprotected copy.
